Extended Biography
Bon MacLarens writes fiction about people on the move — across borders, cultures, and the lines they never meant to cross. Before turning to writing, much of MacLarens' career was spent working across Europe and the Middle East in strategy, finance, and industrial settings. The work led into boardrooms, construction sites, and the spaces in between — often long enough to understand how things operated, and just long enough to see where they didn't. Those years left a lasting interest in systems, and in the individuals required to navigate them.
The fiction grows out of that experience. It explores expatriate life at a time of rapid change, where opportunity, ambition, and compromise sit uncomfortably close together. There is a particular interest in the quiet intersections between formal structures and informal networks — and in the consequences that follow when those boundaries begin to blur.
Echoes from a Path Well Travelled: DILMUN, the first in a planned trilogy, brings together these themes through a dual narrative of migration, survival, and shifting allegiance.
Work is currently underway on the next novel.
